Pictures of Sarah Haran

Sarah Haran was formerly working as a high-flying COO of a listed cloud computing company, constantly jet-setting around the globe. Despite owning high-end designer handbags, from Mulberry to Prada, Sarah realised, "what I really wanted was a truly multifunctional handbag - one that would take me from day to evening, but would still qualify for the airlines' 'one handbag' carry-on policy".

Unable to find her dream handbag, Sarah decided to design her own, creating what would become the Dahlia: two handcrafted handbags that could be worn separately or together; a top-handle tote with a detachable front pocket that could double as a compact clutch or shoulder bag by adding a removable chain strap.

As friends began to request bags of their own, Sarah undertook training in handbag design and leatherwork, culminating in a mini-apprenticeship with a former creative director of Mulberry.

VVA by Sarah Haran was launched in 2015, with each handbag designed and responsibly handcrafted in the UK, from luxury high-end leathers. The collection soon expanded to include the Ivy (a standalone version of the Dahlia's detachable pocket), the Lily, a mini cross-body bag and the Daisy a shopper-tote.

Sarah's attention to detail is paramount. From her initial design, a prototype handbag will be created which Sarah will personally road test for months at a time. Each prototype may be refined four or five times before the perfected version of the design is finally produced.

Each handbag embraces Sarah's philosophy of functionality, with intricately designed interiors featuring generous space and extensive pocket detailing for devices and organisation. Designs also feature customisable elements to allow for personalisation and creativity.

Today, Sarah's handbags have been featured in The Guardian, The Scotsman, Marie Claire and on a range of influential style websites. The handbags are also carried by top magazine editors, fashion stylists, influential style bloggers and A-list stars such as Rachel Weisz.
