Today, we have the pleasure of getting up close and personal with the one and only Paula Fry, also known as @CityFashGal over on Instagram. Paula's life is a whirlwind of excitement as she effortlessly balances her role in the fintech world, jet-setting across the globe, and spending quality time with her adorably fashionable family of chihuahuas. And if that isn't impressive enough, you may have even caught a glimpse of her shining on Davina McCall's ground breaking Menopause Documentary on Channel 4. Talk about a superwoman!
Paula, we need to know - what are your go-to wardrobe essentials this season?
While the fashion world keeps tempting us with endless new must-haves, I've found that cherishing what I already own is the key to true style. So, I try to focus on lasting pieces than fleeting trends. No matter the weather, I always have a fabulous little tuxedo-inspired jacket in my fashion arsenal. A tailored piece that cinches at the waist gives my apple-shaped figure the definition it craves, and it can instantly elevate a casual outfit for those corporate moments.
Lately I’ve been living in my 70's-inspired chunky platform sandals. Gone are the days of thin heels; I'm always on the move for work, and comfort has become a top priority. I'm in smart trainers for the office or rocking a chunky sandal during summer.
What’s in your handbag right now?
Right now, I'm in New York City, so along with the obvious items like my passport and wallet I have my trusty concealer and a couple of lipsticks for quick touch-ups between meetings. A small bottle of perfume keeps me feeling fresh throughout the day, while a moisturizer keeps my skin glowing even amidst the chaos of city life.
As a coffee aficionado, mints are an absolute must. There's nothing worse than coffee breath! I also carry tissues, AirPods, a hairbrush, and hair bands to tame my mane on-the-go. To stay cool and refreshed, I always have a face mist handy. And since I'm a frequent traveller, you'll find compression socks tucked away for those long flights.
Mini bag or maxi bag? What’s your preference?
I’m often seen with both! I travel internationally every few weeks so a large bag is a must for all my trips. I carry a lot, but I like a separate crossbody bag for my phones, passport and credit card so everything is to hand and I’m not digging around.
Speaking of bags, we know you're a fan of Sarah’s designs. Which bag is your fave?
The Poppy is just Divine – I love a well made leather bag. But what makes it truly special is its versatility, which is perfect for my jet-setting lifestyle. I can wear it as a backpack, which is a game-changer for navigating airports with my suitcase. And that's not all—the Ivy means I don't need to pack an extra handbag when I'm traveling. I can simply detach the Ivy pouch and use it as a crossbody or clutch in the evening.
How do you mix up your Sarah Haran bag to suit the occasions?
I do love a tassel change, it's a simple way to switch up the look without much effort. And for those glamorous evenings, I opt for a chain strap—it adds an elegant touch that's perfect for dinner and cocktails.
If you could design your dream bag, what would it look like?
A luxury leather, hardware that doesn’t tarnish in my choice of metals, stylish and strong with plenty of room for this travelling gal who needs to take the kitchen sink with her sometimes!
